Gerard Butler officially announced as the Ambassador for GFO
On 1st December 2009, Gerard Butler was officially launched as the Ambassador for Glasgow Film Office (GFO).
The Hollywood A-lister, best known for his portrayal of King Leonidas in the film 300 spoke about his passion for Glasgow when he was home for the UK premiere of his film The Law Abiding Citizen. “I’m very honoured to be asked to be Glasgow Film Office’s ambassador, anything I can do to support the local film and television industry is worthwhile.”
Having grown up in and around Glasgow and having worked on local film Dear Frankie, Gerard Butler was the perfect choice to help promote the work of Glasgow Film Office. He shares with GFO a strong passion for raising the profile of Glasgow and demonstrating its capability as a production base, citing his own experiences of filming here as evidence. Bravo! Long overdue, the bringing of Glasgow into the stream of cities very capable and desirable as filming locations. Great hopes for Burns to be filmed not only here but in the baird’s home region. Greater hopes that this particular film will have a Scottish feel honouring the man Burns and not make Hollywood soap opera out of his life.
Congratulations Mr. Butler!
Cheers,

Gerry is the perfect choice for this. He loves Glasgow and speaks of his
love for Glasgow and Scotland at every opportunity.
I am sure he will certainly promote this project every way he can.
He is a great representative for anything, and especially anything
Scottish.
Go Gerry.

Wonderful fit for both Glasgow Film Office and Mr. Butler! I wish both GFO and Mr. Butler all the very best in the promotion of Glasgow, Scotland as an outstanding location for the filming industry. Mr. Butler has mentioned recently the need for a new writer for the script on Robert Burns. If he or a GFO board member would like to contact me via my e-mail given, I do know of an individual that can assist in that direction. Take care and God Bless.
