The Herald reported yesterday that Channel 4 has been urged by MPs to boost its programme budget fivefold in Scotland.
A report by the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee noted how the minimum requirement set by Ofcom for production spending outwith London was 30%. In 2008, the figure achieved was 32% and in 2009 37%. Yet the amount of programming coming from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland amounted to just 3% of its total production when the combined share of the UK population was 15%. Read the article here
