Stepping Up is a development programme for craft, technical and production roles. The scheme is part of the Creative Skillset Drama Training Programme, a partnership of BBC Scotland, BECTU, Creative Scotland, Creative Skillset, Scottish Union Learning & Skills Development Scotland
The Stepping Up programme is aimed at experienced craft, technical, production and post-production crew members who are ready to take the next step and move up in their career. It’s an exciting and innovative project which gives successful applicants the chance to shadow the next grade up without having to try and do their own job at the same time! Bespoke short courses and mentoring complete the package and it all adds up to a fantastic opportunity.
It is for ambitious, self-motivated individuals with a proven track record in their chosen field and a proactive approach to advancing their career. With the help of this scheme, the participants will gain the skills and experience necessary to move up to the next professional level in their department.
The support provided will be a combination of paid work placements, bespoke short courses and mentoring.
Candidates will submit a proposal which outlines an action plan enabling them to ‘step up’ to the next level and increase their employability.
The scheme will provide a bursary for each successful candidate to fund placements and training courses according to this plan.
Currently there are participants training in the following roles:
Director of Photography/Lighting Camera
The programme is open to applications from all departments but particularly welcome applications for people hoping to Step Up to the following grades:
1st Assistant Director
2nd Assistant Director
Standby Art Director
The deadline for this round of applications is 09.00am, Wednesday 28 August 2013
The unique value of the Stepping Up plan lies in the understanding that “one size” does not fit all and each training plan will be different and tailored to the requirements of each individual.
