We offer advice and information about all aspects of filming in the city and can signpost productions to the appropriate contacts in outlying areas. The Film Charter for the City of Glasgow was signed in 1997 to ensure that productions filming in Glasgow benefit from support from Glasgow City Council departments. GFO can provide contact details for the film liaison officer in each department in the council.

If you are filming in the city for 5 days or more, you are required to adhere to the Code of Practice for Filming in Glasgow. This means you must sign and return the last page of the Code of Practice to GFO along with supporting documents (e.g. a copy of the shooting schedule, location list) prior to commencement of principal photography.

Productions filming for less than 5 days are required to observe basic health & safety procedures, respect the concerns of local residents and businesses at the filming location(s) and notify GFO and, where necessary, Police Scotland of their proposed shooting schedule.
Glasgow Film Office can also provide location templates for Council owned property and provide liaison with other statutory services and organisations. Contact our office for more information.
Our aim is to help Glasgow maintain its film-friendly reputation for incoming productions as well as promoting the local crew, facilities and services. All we ask in return is that you provide basic information regarding your production so that we can continue to provide a first-rate service to filmmakers. All information received by Glasgow Film Office will be treated in the strictest confidence.
